The face, a relatively round or square shape, is here made to fit the widescreen format of the billboard. Usually when we see such an image from an angle, we expect it to be distorted and expect it to become more normal as move to see it from the front. This image will do the opposite; it will stretch out as the viewer moves by: it almost appears to have its own speed lines.
This image works with the idea of 'face as panorama'. But the level of distortion is carefully balanced so that it also makes an interesting image as the viewer looks at it straight on.
