'Drawing' by Peter Alwast

Drawing explores the relationship between spectacle, design and drawing and originates from a small painting specifically created for the billboard canvas.
According to visual artist and QUT Alumnus Peter Alwast, the image evokes a strange duality of gravity and weightlessness, evocative of clouds or a brooding summer sky, and the white geometric strips change colour depending on the viewing angle thanks to special light-reflecting paint imported from America.
The Billboard is Peter's second large-scale public artwork commissioned by QUT, he also designed two geodesic domes with fibre optics technology for the IBHI building.
