The Billboard

The Billboard

Between 2004 and 2012, the Billboard hosted memorable works by some of Australia's most recognisable names, including: Judy Watson, Chris Howlett, Penelope Cain, Mimi Tong, Jemima Wyman, Mike Stubbs, Tracey Moffat and Joanne Currie Nalingu.

During this time, the Billboard was Australia's largest public art canvas, measuring 45m x 9m. Fronting the busy arterial Kelvin Grove Road, it was seen by an estimated 50 000 commuters each day.

The Billboard exhibited over twenty super-sized artworks specifically designed for the space, each for an average of three to four months. Works were printed in-house using adhesive-backed vinyl and UV-safe inks, and the completed image took a team of abseilers up to three days to hang.

There are currently no active Billboard commissions. See and read about previous Billboard artwork below.
